THE COOL CAT CAFé

The Cool Cat Café is the English corner of Liuzhou Teacher’s College. It was founded in October 1998 by David Guo (teacher of English and I.T) and ‘lao wai’ Micheal (VSO). Over the years the café has played an important role in supporting students in improving their oral English. With the hard work of many people including previous staff, the café has recently become new and improved. With a new décor and furnishings the café is now a much more pleasant and relaxing place to visit in order to practice your oral English. Indeed the cafe now has quite a modern western café feel to it.

There are ten students working as staff at the café and they are supported by a number of the Foreign Language Department’s English teachers. All members of the team are currently working to develop and create new materials and activities to help aid students in improving their oral English. Everybody is given a warm welcome to the café and we encourage students from all departments to join us, not just our English majors! Attending the café will give you the opportunity to practice your English in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. At the café you can chat to your friends, listen to English music and try some of the refreshments on offer. You don’t need to worry about your spoken English, because the staff are there to be your helpful assistants. Just come along and try your best! As we say in English ‘practice makes perfect’.?
